Role: Architectural Technologist

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 + Annual Bonus
Are you looking to develop your career and your portfolio? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Architectural Technologist to join our Architectural Team in York. This is a rare chance to be part of a multi-disciplined, professional team responsible for managing the design and integration of fabric, structure, climate, and safety systems across a range of modular projects.
As an Architectural Technologist, you will have a good understanding of building systems and detailed knowledge of specifications and standards across multiple sectors. You will be experienced in managing the design of projects during construction, whilst leading the coordination across multi-disciplinary design teams.
As an Architectural Technologist at Portakabin, you’ll be responsible for:
- Working across a multi-functional design and engineering team
- Leading the design in terms of coordination of small to medium-sized projects. This would involve; Co-ordinate internal and external design packages into the design, have input into the design programme, ensure all information is available in line with the project programme, liaising with internal and external design consultants and resolving technical issues and design co-ordination matters.
- Preparing building designs and detailed BIM models using specialist computer-aided design applications from concept through to completion with a focus on user needs, site & building surveys, and regulatory requirements.
- Periodic traveling to building sites, proposed locations, and client meetings.
- Monitoring health and safety in design and preparing the designer’s residual risk assessments.
- Working around constraining factors such as town planning legislation, environmental impact and project budget.
- Adapting designs according to circumstances and resolving any problems that may arise during construction

- Knowledge and experience of building systems, compliance, and approval processes
- Detailed knowledge of specifications and standards across multiple sectors
- Knowledge of construction detailing and building interfaces
- Desirable experience in permanent and modular building design, selection, application, refurbishment
