Job Title: Production Planning Manager
Location: York, YO32 9PT
Salary: £50,000- £60,000 (Depending on experience)
Annual Leave: 25 days plus bank holidays
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Production Planning Manager to join the Portakabin business at our Head Office in York. As a Production Planning Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all production planning activities at York New build & refurbished, providing high customer service, minimal operational disruption caused by in house materials shortages and optimizing inventory levels. This includes (but is not limited to) being in charge of generating and optimizing the short and long term capacity plan aligned with Manufacturing and customer service principles; additionally, as the manager you will lead continuous improvement and transformation to the current process and systems while leading a team of production schedulers.
As a Production Planning Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Ensure in house production materials are available on time to deliver York site production output, via ensuring implementation of MRP policy, review of MRP lights, release of production orders within capacity for each work centre, follow the right escalation process and action to mitigate shortages and risks.
- Liaise daily with the manufacturing team to eliminate bottlenecks and assembly issues; it includes monitoring and reporting the position of each manufacturing area against the schedule.
- Lead and manage the weekly production plan sign off process for York New build across all areas, working on exceptions and tracking production plan performance to ensure appropriate plans are put in place to deliver against target.
- Manage collaborative relationships with various stakeholders from the business, acting as an operation process lead with can-do-attitude and positive mind set, initiating and leading continuous improvement actions that would enable more efficient execution of the business plans and supply chain strategy.
- Initiate and lead actions to optimise production planning, improve OLE and schedule adherence, reduce slow movers’ inventory for in house produced materials and reduce direct reports firefighting.
- Lead Supply Review within the S&OP process, ensuring a capacity plan is agreed for the next 2 Fiscal years and clear action plan defined to close gaps between requirements vs capacity for each of the production areas.
- Lead, develop and manage Production Planning team, producing personal development plans, increasing and managing performance, ensuring the team has the right structure, skills level, standard processes and accountability.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who has:
- Understanding of Production and Supply Chain methodology and strategy
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a numerical related discipline
- Solid understanding of Materials Resource Planning procedures, production planning, finite scheduling, capacity planning and S&OP
- Significant experience in a similar role in a manufacturing, supply chain environment
- Proven ability to initiate and lead process improvement, influencing stakeholders positively.
- Delivered and led change, to optimize processes and increase efficiencies.
