Purpose of the role
This position shall support the management of the Building Service elements of Hire Fleet buildings.
The Chargehand will support the BS Lead ensuring adherence to safe working practices at all times. Key to the role is that all works are undertaken in a structured manner, to agreed timescales and quality standards whilst maintaining effective cost control,.
The Chargehand will support management in leading on all aspects of Health and Safety and will ensure operational best practice is followed to consistently deliver excellent customer service.
Accountabilities of the role
Ensure the operations team, including contractors, comply with all legislation, codes of practice, industry guidelines and/or Company procedures/policies relating to Health and Safety.
Ensure all working areas are maintained to a safe and orderly standard, supporting 5S implementation, H&S Inspections and monthly SHE tour and report.
Monitor employee timesheets against daily plan ensuring accuracy of booking and service order numbers.
Work effectively as part of a team with all internal customers to ensure timescales for completing work and quality standards are achieved in adherence to definition of costs, and Portakabin SOP’s.
Check accuracy of building allocation paperwork, e.g., drawings and specifications. Ensuring fitout is to agreed specification.
To actively participate in daily briefings to operatives and contractors.
Oversee adherence to all laid down Quality Systems and Standards.
Update visual progress boards regularly.
Monitor the correct use and completion of despatch check sheets.
Ensure tool allocation and control is managed correctly.
Be thorough in the separation and segregation of waste to meet environmental requirements.
Organise yard and create picking/dispatch lists
Plan and schedule installations and dismantles
Manage stock and inventory control
Forecast CEPS (Cost, Equipment, Personnel, and Stock)
Handle administrative tasks and document control
Ensure RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements) compliance
Ensure quality control for handovers
Coordinate Preventative Maintenance (PPM) planning
Conduct Purchase Order inductions
Qualifications
Educated to Leaving Cert standard or equivalent
Full Irish driving licence
NEBOSH/IOSH SHE qualification and/or PSCS/SMSTS

Desirable
Proven experience of managing health and safety within construction working environments
Practical operational experience ideally in construction related roles
Demonstrate ability to work independently
Some experience in team management
Solid understanding of various software packages including MS Excel and PowerPoint
Demonstrate ability to deliver efficiency improvement and optimisation.
