Role: Head of Manufacturing

You’ll be a hands-on, proactive, and strategic Manufacturing or Factory Manager looking to join our production site in York as our next Head of Manufacturing. You’ll utilise your eye for detail and change management experience to create a big impact, supporting the Manufacturing Director in developing a comprehensive strategy, in line with the strategic direction of the Portakabin business.
This is an exciting opportunity and a newly created role, providing leadership across the Modular plant’s activities to achieve clear business objectives. The role is responsible for managing daily operations, streamlining processes, reducing waste, and increasing productivity whilst not compromising on health and safety or quality. You will be responsible for driving team engagement and working closely with the other teams in Production, as well as other support functions to control costs and to ensure excellent customer service.
As Head of Manufacturing, you’ll deliver impactful and visible leadership of Health and Safety, with a strong focus on implementing the Portakabin safety programme and journey to Zero Harm. You’ll be responsible for developing and implementing innovative strategies to streamline factory operations and drive continuous and sustained improvement initiatives and will work collaboratively with the Head of Engineering to ensure the monitoring of equipment and repairs is timely managed.

As a Head of Manufacturing, you will have:
- Engineering/Business Management (or related) qualification
- Experience managing a complex production operation of £20m+ in a B2B environment
- 3 years proven experience as a Manufacturing/Factory Manager or similar role
- Knowledge and previous experience demonstrated of business and management principles
- Large scale Manufacturing project management experience
- Experience working with Trade Unions
